Status: Full-Time, Exempt

 

Department: Provider/Clinical

Reports to: Brian Keogh, MD and Managing Partner

Job Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

 

Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP)  is a vital role to the pain clinic. The NP provides coverage to various pain clinics in partnership and collaboration with the on-site physician. Patient caseload includes but is not limited to patient follow ups, medication management, and additional treatment plans. The on-site physician will provide ongoing training and support of the latest in advanced diagnosis and treatment of chronic and acute pain. 
The pain clinic has a multi-modal approach to pain that may include partnership with or referrals to other sub-specialties such as orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors, psychiatrists, neurologists, radiologists, and physical therapists. This approach allows the provider to provide a full scope of treatment to manage pain. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine patient follow-ups after physician’s initial procedure
  • Facilitate medication management 
  • Recommend additional pain management therapy, procedures, or testing
  • Maintain continuity of care by scheduling patients for appropriate follow up visits
  • Delegate to clinical support staff 
  • Respond to inquiries from physicians, management, and support staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:
  • Valid NP license in the state of NC, or in the process of obtaining. 
  • Valid DEA license, or in the process of obtaining. 
  • One year of pain management experience preferred, but not required; new graduates are welcome to apply.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of diverse individuals. 
  • Possess exceptional communication and writing skills. 

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Work performed in an office environment.
  • Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and medical office staff.
  • Work may be stressful at times.
  • Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive.
  • Requires long periods of standing and walking. 
  • Physical activity can be irregular and fast-paced, regularly. 
  • Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination/manual dexterity to operate medical and office equipment
  • Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds with no assistance
