Schedule: Monday – Thursday 7:30a – 4:30p; Friday 7:30a – 1:30p (for training)
Permanent Schedule will be rotating between 7a-4p, 7:30a - 4:30p, and 8-5 Monday through Thursday; 7a-1p, 7a-1:30p, 8a-2p on Friday

Founded in 2017 by Dr. Thomas J. Weber, Midtown Pain and Spine Clinic is the Triangle area’s elite pain management clinic. We offer a collaborative, comprehensive, and patient-centered approach to caring for patients who are living with pain. We offer non-surgical and interventional pain treatments for back pain, neck pain, and many other pain conditions. Using Image-guided spine intervention, which offers precise diagnostic capabilities, we are able to provide patients relief from their symptoms once and for all.

Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is a vital role to the pain clinic. The Medical Assistant works closely with the providers and patients on a daily basis and will utilize both clinical and administrative tasks to help providers in the pain clinic. Daily responsibilities include interviewing new and returning patients then presenting to the provider, submitting medication prior authorizations and documenting medical information into the electronic medical records (EMR) system. The Medical Assistant identifies patients’ needs, provides safe and professional care, and communicates any potential issues to the manager. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate professionalism and tact during difficult patient situations. The Medical Assistant will:
Duties/Responsibilities:

Document the patient encounter in our EMR system.
Prepare relevant diagnostic imaging to be reviewed with the provider.
Complete medication prior authorizations, including appeals and denials.
Package urine samples, print orders for the lab and document patient medications.
Analyze drug screen results and report inconsistencies to the provider.
Review patient medical records for relevant past treatments, medications and health history.
Record pre-and post-procedural vitals for interventional treatments such as epidural
steroid injections, facet blocks and radiofrequency ablations.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in medical related studies preferred, but not required.
Medical Assistant Certification preferred, but will consider experience in lieu of certification.
Previous experience in a specialty medical office is preferred, but not required.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both in written and oral communication.
Ability to handle high patient volumes in a professional manner.
Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
Work Environment:
Work performed in an office environment.
Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and medical office staff.
Work may be stressful at times.
Requires long periods of standing and walking.
Physical activity can be irregular and fast-paced routinely.
Must be able to lift 20 pounds with no assistance.
