Department: ECPC Pain Clinics - Clinical
 

Reports to: Practice/Office Manager, ECPC Pain Clinic
 

Job Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Job Summary:

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital supportive role to the pain clinic. The RN provides coverage to the pain clinic under direction and collaboration from the on-site physician. In this supportive role, the RN will conduct health assessments, provide medications or wound dressings as needed, provide support during in-office procedures, and be an educational resource for patients. The RN will also collaborate with other members of the staff including medical assistants, LPNs, and other non-clinical support staff.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

        Observe and record patient behavior.

        Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests.

        Collect patient health history.

        Administer and run IV’s.

        Counsel and educate patients and their families on treatment plans.

        Administer medication, change wound dressings and care for other treatment options.

        Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.

        Consult with supervisors and doctors to decide on the best treatment plan for patients.

        Direct and supervise nurses, nurse assistants and nurse aides.

        Research ways to improve healthcare processes and improve patient outcomes.

        Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

        Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing.

        Valid Registered nursing licensure.

        One year experience, pain management experience preferred.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

        Must be compassionate towards patients and their families

        Proven ability to assess and judge different situations and take the right actions according to the situation

        Ability to work collaboratively with a team of diverse individuals

        Exceptional communication and writing skills

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

        Work performed in an office environment.

        Involves frequent contact with physicians, leadership, and medical office staff.

        Work may be stressful at times.

        Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive.

        Requires long periods of standing and walking

        Physical activity can be irregular and fast-paced regularly

        Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination/manual dexterity to operate medical and office equipment

        Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations

        Must be able to lift 20 pounds with no assistance.
