Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital supportive role to the pain clinic. The RN provides coverage to the pain clinic under direction and collaboration from the on-site physician. In this supportive role, the RN will conduct health assessments, provide medications or wound dressings as needed, provide support during in-office procedures, and be an educational resource for patients. The RN will also collaborate with other members of the staff including medical assistants, LPNs, and other non-clinical support staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Observe and record patient behavior.
● Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests.
● Collect patient health history.
● Administer and run IV’s.
● Counsel and educate patients and their families on treatment plans.
● Administer medication, change wound dressings and care for other treatment options.
● Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
● Consult with supervisors and doctors to decide on the best treatment plan for patients.
● Direct and supervise nurses, nurse assistants and nurse aides.
● Research ways to improve healthcare processes and improve patient outcomes.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing.
● Valid Registered nursing licensure.
● One year experience, pain management experience preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Must be compassionate towards patients and their families
● Proven ability to assess and judge different situations and take the right actions according to the situation
● Ability to work collaboratively with a team of diverse individuals
● Exceptional communication and writing skills
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
● Work performed in an office environment.
● Involves frequent contact with physicians, leadership, and medical office staff.
● Work may be stressful at times.
● Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive.
● Requires long periods of standing and walking
● Physical activity can be irregular and fast-paced regularly
● Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination/manual dexterity to operate medical and office equipment
● Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations
● Must be able to lift 20 pounds with no assistance.
